Week 04 – Avatars

Collaboration Work

This week, we decided on a theme and a story for the animation we’ll create. The story is around a rabbit who discovers a peculiar small tree in front of his house. he doesn’t know what it is at first, but as time passes, the tree grows and becomes a large tree filled of stars.

We also set up the team members to perform the work. My main responsibility are character modelling, texturing, character rigging, and animate all character actions.

We also looked for some references to scenes and characters, here are some references below:

Sessions

During this week, we managed to learn some simple ways to use unity in class. Before the class, I had never used unity as a piece of software, and the only thing I knew about it was that it was a game engine that required an extensive amount of code to work.

Herman taught us the way of asset import and export, and some basic unity manipulation.

Week 03 – Project Discussion

This week we decided on the direction of our project and as each week we will have a collaborative meeting to discuss

and update everyone on their ideas and progress.

Title: Tree and Star

Main Theme:

Your efforts will eventually pay off. Everything in the world has a certain cause and effect, for example if you plant a

seed, it will grow into a big tree.

Week 03 – Establishing A Research Topic

I have two options for my thesis, one of which explores the function of rendering in various animation films. The

second thesis focuses on fluids in special effects systems and how the usage of significant quantities of fluids in Avatar

2 represented a technological breakthrough.

There are two alternatives for processing visuals for VFX, CG, and other media: CPU and GPU renderers. Although

CPU and GPU-based render engines have many similarities, there are significant variances that impact processing

speed and quality.

Pixar altered the animation game nearly two decades ago with the release of Finding Nemo, which brought our

planet’s oceans to life like never before. The representation of water was so realistic that it had to be toned down for

the completed film.

Week 02 – Design and Digital Processes and DAOs

In this week, we explored various collaboration subjects and content. In addition, we had a productive meeting in the

cafeteria to identify group members and discuss the precise topics and themes we would be working on.

Gamified Collaboration

For the first game, we created animal body parts and then sewed them together to create something entirely new. So,

we can gain additional inspiration.

Collaboration Meeting

In addition, we continued to discuss whether to create an animated short or a first-person game for our collaborative

project in the canteen. One of the ideas is to create an experimental animation about two people in the same room

doing different things, but they cannot see each other because they are from separate subgenres.

Week 02 – Idea Developments

IDEA 01

My initial concept was to produce a kitten-themed animation series, for which I intended to develop my own concepts

and model of a kitten. And for this week I’ve been working on the cat modeling and shading/texturing and started to rig

the cat.

IDEA 02

Synopsis:

The witch has discovered the recipe for a fire potion that could give her the power to control flames. The witchhesitates before taking the potion, as she is afraid that the potion will harm her. At this point, the witch caught sight of the little lizard watching her curiously on the tree, and then she forcibly dragged the lizard from the tree by use of witchcraft and forced him to take the potion. However, it draws fire against herself in the end.

Production Type:

The genre will be action/magic with a fantasy flair. The film will be a piece that viewers of any age will enjoy, as it will incorporate some educational ideas into its design.

Audience:

The target audience of this film is those who like fantasy and magical genres, especially children and teenagers in the age group of 5–20 years old. Selfishness is common during adolescence, which is a time when teens care a lot about how their worldviews and values are changing. Although selfish behavior is normal for adolescents, persistent selfishness can hinder healthy relationships and have other negative effects before adolescence. Therefore, I hope that such a 3D animated short film can inspire the growth of teenagers.

Outcome & Aims:

These days, with people’s efforts to prove that animation is a serious art form, animators are apt to confuse the solemn with the sincere, ignore the healing power of laughter. The goal is to express the profound educational idea of “not imposing on others” through a humorous short animation art form.

Week 02 – Experimental Animation

Often, short films, particularly animated ones, sit between film and other media disciplines. It’s Such a Lovely Day is peculiar since it is neither a standalone film nor a series of episodes. It is a feature-length adaptation of a trio of short films.

While the title frames appear 30 to 60 seconds into each short, it is difficult to determine where one short finish and the next starts when seeing the feature film, as the shorts create a single narrative. Yet, each component has its own attributes.

The film’s clear main theme is that every day of life is lovely. And this dying enables us to enjoy life. Bill was apparently reared by a single mother. His family was plagued by dementia and other ailments. Many members of his family have perished due to a variety of illnesses and/or suicide. Bill was eventually diagnosed with a dangerous condition comparable to a tumor. When he had his first attack, he was brought to the hospital, where the physicians were baffled by what was occurring. William recovered and was released from the hospital. Bill, like most of us, feared death. He even spent hours contemplating it. Fear of death was so intense for Bill that he barely survived. Despite this, he began to progressively feel better and more positive about the future.
